I left England in 2003 in pursuit of less stress, more emphasis on the great outdoors, and seeking out a healthier, fuller way of living life. Moving to Vancouver then Ottawa, I eventually headed south to Sydney, Australia with my wife and two dogs to a life in the beautiful harbour city of Sydney. I'm currently based on the Northern Beaches.
If you have a passion for living a different way of life and treading a less ordinary path, then this blog is probably for you.
On average, I post weekly and write about my life in Sydney as an expat and my ongoing search for a life less ordinary. You can follow me by email if you sign up in the box on the right-hand side of this blog.
What others are saying
The title says it all! Subtitled, 'Adventures in Making a Home From Home', it's a wonderful collection of stories (ExpatExpert)
Brit born Russell has wandered the globe from Blighty to Australia via Canada. His blog is so honest and real. I love how he doesn’t shy away from talking about the tricky stuff, the times when the expat life is really tough (VegemiteVix)
I wanted to say how much I've enjoyed reading your blog. Living in the US for the past year, my visa is now up, and I'm returning to the UK today, leaving my beautiful girlfriend here until we can figure something out. I found your blog to be of some comfort (Glen Johnson)
